With just one look at that screaming yellow and pink theme cover, I knew I had the right book on my hands. I first learned about this book just last week, when I was in the middle of my normal procrastination. Reading an article about "Books To Read" and stuff. (TRIVIA: I AM A BOOK COLLECTOR kunyari di paulit-ulit at hindi obvious AND MOST OF THE TIME I GET IDEAS ON WHAT TO BUY BASED ON A "BOOK LIST" I SEE ONLINE.)
So right when I had the chance, I immediately got my copy of the this book - "OCD LOVE STORY" by COREY ANN HAYDU.
Amidst the upcoming MID-TERMS examinations, I was able to squeeze in time for me to finish reading the book. #procrastinationlvl100
WHAT GOT ME INTERESTED: the screaming cover of yellow and pink. The texts all over the cover reading "I WILL NOT STALK THAT BOY."
WHAT IT'S REALLY ABOUT: the OCD Love Story is the story of a teen named Bea who turned out to be suffering Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that started out from anxiety (and guess what) in the middle of her group therapy she fell in love with a fellow named Beck. Worst thing about her OCD is that he stalks this couple - mostly because of the guy Austin.
THIS BOOK REMINDS ME OF: one of my all-time favourite (short-lived) series "Emily Owens MD" had an episode where it featured an OCD patient (who sadly died after her tumour operation).
PAGE TURNER: yes! I dunno if it's the lack of sleep or I just really find the book interesting. I really felt like the character Bea was suffering too much. Doing lotsa crazy things. That I myself just want to help her (by finding out what happens next by finishing the book fast).
RECOMMENDED TO: to those bookworms out there looking for a new spice in the world of Young Adult Fiction. Why? Well at first I thought it will just be a normal YA telling a story of a girl meets boy. Throughout the story however, I cannot hide the fact that I was questioning my own sanity. Yah know, the friendly-random-searching about a "crush" and also about my paranoia about certain stuff. Definitely something new for me. It's not just about the cutiepie love story but also tackles the struggle of a person with OCD.
SOMETHING I LEARNED: that OCD does not only manifest with being super squeaky clean. I shall read more books with this genre. YA fictions are definitely light-reads and are page turners.
QUOTABLE QUOTES: my favourite part of reading a book is learning a line or two that had captured my soul - char! HAHA
Torture: knowing something makes no sense, doing it anyway. |

Ha! Bea and Beck will now be holding a special place in my heart now. Thanks Corey Ann Haydu!
