A Book & A Blog: The Little Prince

Aha! Who wouldn't know "The Little Prince" and his trip to earth? I first encountered The Little Prince, a little too late already, back when I was in my junior year in High School. Third year was the best year as a part-time-bookworm (haha, part-time 'coz I'm more of a collector! HAHAHA. #shame). Anyway, so now's the chance to reread another book for me. (cue: jassy-imbento-sound-effects-here "TENENENNNNN")

The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry is about a pilot who got stranded on Sahara dessert (which according to Wikipedia is loosely based on De Saint-Exupéry's own experience). From there he met the little prince, who told him stories about his journey to earth - until he met him.

Oha! Same sa cover. Matipid na idea.
I think The Little Prince is one of my favourite book (of all time). Why? Though I am fond of reading long boring text, the kid in me wouldn't mind (enjoys) seeing a little colour on a picture beside that text. Said pictures on the book were actually made by De Saint-Exupéry himself. It is also a short story filled with exciting new chapter every now and then *confetti*. And even if it appears that such story is a children's classic literature, the book is actually filled with lesson that a young adult teen like me would gladly appreciate - in short maraming mga paandar na quotes ang librong ito!

Tulad nito, here's the little prince sharing with me the same sentiment about adults.

"They are like that. One must not hold it against them. Children should always show great forbearance toward grown-up people,"
This is also where the "boa-constrictor from the outside" and "an elephant swallowed by a boa-constrictor" came from. Ah such great mind! I wouldn't actually guess that the "hat" was a boa-constrictor, but thank you dear pilot for teaching me this.

The book had shown the natural kakulitan (#MedyoBrat) of a kid when the little prince kept pestering the pilot of drawing him a sheep.

And here's the pilot telling why he wrote his story this way.

FF

Here's the little prince starting to realise his longing "from his love" - the rose.

Isa sa mga bet kong lines from the King - "Then you shall judge yourself. That is the most difficult thing of all. It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom."

Ansabe ng paiba-ibang "lighting"? Halata bang hindi yan one-sitting lang? HAHAHAHA
And here's the tippler talking to the alcoholics out there - ilag

"I am drinking" replied the tippler, with a lugubrious air.
"Why are you drinking?" demanded the little prince.
"So that I may forget," replied the tippler.
"Forget what?" inquired the little prince, who already was sorry for him.
"Forget that I am ashamed," the tippler confessed, hanging his head.
"Ashamed of what?" insisted the little prince, who wanted to help him.
"Ashamed of drinking!"

And this is the his encounter with the fox -

And here's the little prince telling the roses of how empty they were -

At ang pang food for thought

And this is my favourite quote - "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

After reading the book, I will never be looking at the stars the same way again.
Yeah pilot, I feel you!
