Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - lately, it's been flooded by posts about Descendants of the Sun. What is it anyway? And who is this Song Joong Ki?
GAHD! IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND IS SERIOUSLY ASKING FOR THOSE, FRIEND - I'M TELLING YOU, GO WATCH IT NOW!
But if you still want to know more, let me try to tell you about it without giving much away.
DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN is about an army soldier (Song Joong Ki as Capt. Yoo Si Jin aka Big Boss) and a doctor (Song Hye Kyo as Dr. Kang Mo Yeon aka Beauty). Ayan na yun! Yah know, the usual - boy meets girl and they fell in love. The difference is that, it didn't take 7 episodes before they realized that they like each other. I think that's what got me interested as well (kidding, si Song Joong Ki talaga, five minutes of seeing his precious face and I'm sold). Actually, interesting din yung story. Giving a perspective of the situation over North and South's relationship, affairs of the State na realistic. (Can I just say that I was completely moved by the SoKor President's scene. I've realized how we are lacking for someone like him. If only). Now more on that love-story.
(now this is the boring part where I'll try to sound like I know things, but I don't. So, you can skip this if you want. HEHEHE)
Mostly, series nowadays presents the story first on the first few episodes by giving out the whole premise of the story, pati yung napakaraming backstory, and it is only after that the inevitable love story will be introduced. Usually, the love story will be facing typical problems like one of the lead is actually very rich or a son/daughter of someone very important, other times it's because the other lead is too good looking (at first, eventually the other lead will be transformed), or that the parents of the lead is not in favor of the relationship.
With DOTS kasi, it's not like that. The challenges they faced were not the typical ones, as it usually involves the motherland. Ganyan. It's not that they're hiding their feelings, it's just that circumstances important to their lives are letting them fall apart. Pero dahil fiction ito, what do you expect diba?
So, why watch? It's a melodrama that will ruin your life if you won't calm down. it's a melodrama that knows where to insert witty scenes and serious, but with Yoo Si Jin he mixes them both. Every episode is a must watch, I've never seen a dull moment all throughout. Every character is important. Best of all, although given lesser airtime, I am satisfied with every character's whereabouts. The things I am curious about on the first few episodes where all answered. All the clips from the music videos, eventually were shown as well. It was consistently good and, as such, ended good. It's that show that makes you want to watch out for the lead, the second lead, the other characters, the kontrabida, the arsehole, the bad guy but actually ended up being good, the bromance! IN SHORT, THE PERFECT DRAMA!
Now that I am done trying to convince you with the story, now... let me bribe you with the lead.
Introducing new love of my life Song Joong Ki.
He's smart.
He acted out as Gu Yong-Ha (Yeorim) in the drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and coincidentally, he entered Sungkyunkwan University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Moreover, he scored 380 out of 400 for the college entrance examination. Wala lang, no big deal.
He's generous.
A news article came before about his generosity as a donor for Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation. It was said that he's been doing it ever since 2011. Well, to me it means a lot. To do something good and never being proud of it publicly, that's genuine kindness!
He's funny.
He was formerly a cast member of the variety show Running Man. He was a lot of things, for a moment he was the flower boy Joong Ki, brainy Joong Ki, overly enthusiastic youth Joong Ki, detective Joong Ki. Ay cute talaga! For a fangirl like me, watching him in his Running Man days is a must. The Song-Song Siblings. The Same-Aged Friends. okay, fan ako ng running man kahit na medyo mababa ratings nila. I'm trying to catch up pa with it so. hehehe.
He sings.
For his drama "Innocent Man", Song Joong Ki sang "Really" and was included for the Official Sound Track. Oha! He's not an official singer, but listen to his precious voice. Nakakarelax. *kahit wala kong naiintindihan
He dances. Awkwardly.
HAHAHA, he tries. He always tries! Ayan naman ang maganda kay Joong Ki. Although some may view it as being arrogant, actually it's just that he's too willing to do anything. Kaya even with dancing, he tries his best.
He's cute.
Before entering the military (okay, I've known him for 2 months pa lang, pero we dated for one year kidding, this is a So Dae Young reference, watch DOTS to understand) he's really too cute, wayyy beyond cute!
AND NOW, he's a full grown man.
Eto na siya ngayon, hot na niya super. I think, the military changed him a lot. Sure, he still acts silly at times, sa series kase to, but when he acts as a soldier - he's really tough and not someone I would like to mess with.
Most importantly, he acts well.
I've never fangirled this much it my entire human existence. Remember those past crushes I've had? Well, put that together and this is what I am now. Ang lala na po talga.
Anyway, Descendants of the Sun will be shown locally sa GMA sometime in August daw. Guess what? I'M STILL GOING TO WATCH IT WHEN IT AIRS. Also, I'm praying that he will be visiting the country to promote the drama. I swear if that happens, I'll be there.
Eto nga pala ang SYMBOL OF PEACE, ANG DOVES OF URUK/URK/UREUK (bahala kayo sa spelling).
Thank you DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN (CAST AND CREW) for making my dull life colorful. Now, excuse me while I go back to crying after that smooth ending (episode 16) with my favorite "song". ALSO, can my acads life forgive me from all the excessive fangirling I've done over the past few days? HAHAHA.
LAHAT NG LARAWAN MULA SA POST NA ITO AY GALING SA INTERNET, SALAMAT SA INYO!
KUNG NAIS NIYO NG MGA LARAWAN NI SONG JOONG KI, I SUGGEST GOING TO http://www.beautyandbigboss.tumblr.com SOBRANG GANDA NG MGA LOCKSCREEN WALLPAPERS NIYA. HEHEHE.
