Cinemalaya: The Animals

MINDFUCK

Charlene and I watched Gino M. Santos's The Animals last Friday for the 8th Cinemalaya. Looking at the poster, I really thought it would be a Filipino version of "Project X". Party- hard core party. But noooo! It really is not.

EVERYBODY HAS A WILD SIDE

Before the movie began, the Director together with the crew and casts showed up to make introductions of themselves and they stressed out that the movie is the film of our generation.

Rich kids. Rich kids with rich parents. Rich kids with no parents. Rich kids with peer-pressure problems. Rich kids with vices. Rich kids! :))

Gonzaga High (with arheneo logo). St John (with lasalle logo) State University (with up logo). HAHAHA! The scenes can really be based on factual events. not sure with the hazing and taxi part. But hell, everything can really be possible.

Jake.Trina.Alex.
Alex - the wannabe frat kid who has some serious stuff going on his head.
Trina - the smart and pretty with cleptomania tendency.
Jake - party organizer.

One must watch The Animals because...
  • a totally different perspective of Filipino youth
  • the awesome cinematography
  • the epic ending!
Wasn't expecting the ending to be that way. You'll definitely be bothered after seeing it. I actually felt like it was worst than watching a horror film!

Definitely something new to Philippine Cinema: The Animals a film by Gino M. Santos.
