The Bottomline with Boy Abunda
Guest: Red Tani - Atheist
I was born and raised as a Roman Catholic. Have been actively participating religious activities during my younger years. I attend mass every Sunday. I attend the Thursday novena at Saint Jude, Malacañang. I pray every night.
I believe in God and have faith in Him. I believe that He is the Supreme Being - the Greatest Architect. The person I ran to in times of desperation and triumph.
I have read and watched Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code - and I enjoyed it.
This two non-fiction books were very controversial especially here in the Philippines, since the it talked about Illuminati (secret organization against the Catholic church) and the very famous Holy Grail. And my dad is a FREEMASON and my brother's a DeMolay.
But this doesn't make me less of a Catholic. In fact, this doesn't affect my faith at all. Yes, the thought about Jesus and Mary Magdalene having an affair sinked into my mind, but it just made my faith stronger, that it's all fiction. Freemasonry was the alleged anti-church cult-religion, which is just all ALLEGATIONS! I have learned from my dad that Freemasonry is actually not a religion, infact, Masons are from different religions. People with different religions, but believes in the existence of one God. Boom!
Oh-kay now with tonight's episode of The Bottomline.
They had Red Tani an Atheist as their guest. So I know you get the picture that since he's an Atheist, the discussion was purely about him being an Atheist. He was born and raised Catholic, was of a well-to-do family, but at some point after graduating college he just got confused about God and His existence. According to Red, he tried looking who God was in different religion but to his luck - he found no answers but rather more questions. That's when he became an Atheist, more of a Naturalist said by the Bottomliners since Red believes that "god is us", that man is the higher being. What makes him a good guy is that despite being an atheist, he does not push his belief to the believers.
Then there were the bottomline questions one of the best question is if Red already finished with his tests that there is a God, will he believe. He answered yes.
This made me remember Charles Darwin, the father of evolution. Darwin was greatly known for his theory on evolution, that it was through evolution that from apes man had evolved to a human. But it was rumored that on his death bed, he renounced evolution and believed in Christ after all. Well, this are all rumors but it just enlightened me that there's really a possibility of such event.
Anyhow, I do not question the existence of God since I believed there is one. Nor do I hate the non-believers because each and everyone of us have our own freewill.
In the end what matters is that as human beings, we must act together as one for the betterment of our society. As rational human beings, we must all respect each and everyone's differences and uniqueness to be able to be uplift humanity and make this world a better place.
kuddos to The Bottomline, one of the best episode! ;)
